"New opportunities with XSLM"

John holds a B.A.Sc degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and joined IBM in 1976 as a Systems Engineer in the Hamilton, Canada branch office. He has held various positions in technical support, software product development, hardware sales and marketing with IBM in both the U.S.A. and Canada. Currently he is part of the North American Large Systems Market Support Centre (LSMSC) and is a frequent speaker at IBM S/390 briefings for clients and internal training classes. He developed and taught classes on "Managing S/390 ISV Software Costs" to over 500 clients. John consults to clients throughout North America on S/390 hardware directions and ISV management issues.

IBM has recently announced support for The Open Group's XSLM standard for software license management on the new zSeries server. XSLM opens many opportunities for improved software asset management. John introduces here ways you can leverage this emerging industry standard in your shop.

Paul Gant is the sales director of Cyveillance International. Prior to joining Cyveillance, Paul was the founder of Market Élan Limited, which specialises in customer relationship management and e-Business. He has worked for a wide range of blue-chip organisations, assisting and guiding them with their understanding and use of information technology at the customer interface. Paul has an MBA in Information Technology and Marketing and has been a guest lecturer at leading European business schools. He is a regular conference speaker and writes frequently for the business press.

As the Internet grows to nearly 3 billion pages, companies most valuable assets - their brands - are at risk on the Net. Understanding how brands are becoming more valuable, and more vulnerable, on the web is crucial to any company serious about doing e-Business.
