With software costs spiralling upwards in all IT budgets there is more than a strong case for an (MVS) Software Asset Manager. But what kind of person do we want and what exactly can he/she do to save us money not just now but in the future. Linda McGrath of Fitz Software & Co. will present the ground rules and the way forward.

The morning will commence with a visit to EMC Ireland in Ovens and a tour of their plant (now employs nearly 1300 people) and a brief overview of their technical support group and data-centre for simulating customer environments. Bus leaves RCYC at 9 a.m.

There will also be a presentation on continuity and disaster recovery procedures by EMC & Fitz.

At 12.00 we'll be back in Crosshaven and the rest of the afternoon will entail boating in the famous Cork harbour with visits to historical sites including that of the heritage centre in Cobh (formerly Queenstown and last port of call of the Titanic).
